Class Overview Assignment

My names Christopher Murtagh and I am a senior studying to get my degree in biochemistry. I grew up in a small town in Massachusetts and moved to North Carolina when I graduated high school in 2010. Prior to coming to the University of Tampa, I was enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as a machine gunner for five years. During my time in the military I was deployed three times, two to Afghanistan and one to Kuwait. I decided to pursue a path in biochemistry in hopes of eventually attending medical school and becoming a doctor. 

Today was the first day of class and I went in not really knowing what to expect. Having no real background in any art classes, I did not know whether this class would be easy or hard. Upon going over the syllabus I began to get worried that I am not prepared for this course because the pace seemed a little overwhelming. As well, I am in no way an artist and this contributed to my overall anxiety about this course because I am a very analytically oriented thinker, and I am barely able to draw stick figures. I found some comfort in hearing others opinions and worries about the course, and I hope that my anxiety will subside throughout a few more class periods.

I hope to get a good grade in this class, while also working on not only my artistic abilities but artistic thinking and view as well. I hope to learn more about the entwinement of art and technology.
